Mill
We specialize in milling, drying and surfacing natural edge slabs, with the ability to mill slabs up to 82 inches wide. Our natural edge slabs are carefully dried in computer controlled kilns to a moisture content of 6-8%. The slabs are then leveled on our 100" wide jointer/planer and ready for final sanding and finishing.
At BlackHawk MillWorks, our sawmill services are the foundation of our craftsmanship, transforming raw timber into premium wood slabs and custom products. Our production process is designed to preserve the natural beauty and quality of each wood piece, ensuring it meets our high standards for durability and design.

Cutting: We begin by carefully selecting logs of high-quality hardwoods, such as pecan, walnut, mesquite, and more. Our state-of-the-art sawmill equipment allows us to cut slabs with precision, handling large, live-edge pieces up to 82 inches wide. This capability enables us to work with substantial pieces that highlight the unique grain and natural edges.

Surfacing: Our surfacing service refines each slab to achieve a smooth, even finish, ideal for further customization. Using specialized equipment, we remove any irregularities, ensuring the slab is perfectly leveled and ready for finishing.
Customization and Preparation: In addition to cutting and drying, we offer extensive customization, including epoxy inlays and resin finishing, to enhance each slab’s natural features.
